Jai Hind! The belt and Road initiative as being propagated by China and its president Xi Jingping was an envy of the modern world showcasing one of the largest networks of infrastructure projects in this part of the world. As time has gone by and as China has put in more than $400 billion into this project some realities are taking shape. A lot of these projects in countries like Pakistan and Sri Lanka have failed to produce the desired results. The Chinese debt trap is much spoken about as a win for China we need to look at this and understand is it actually a win? The COVID-19 virus would be the time that the China model would come into question across the world with its belligerence both in the military diplomatic as well as the economic spheres. The Chinese may have bitten off more than they can chew by not doing proper risk assessments of the belt and Road initiative and Xijingping with its aggressive expansionist plans is creating further problems in the Chinese plans for this project.
